AcklamBond Background

Acklam Bond Solicitors started life on 31st October 1988 and was based at 28 Warner Street, Accrington.  The firm predominately dealt with commercial property, business matters and private client work but was keen to expand into civil litigation.

Consequently, Denise Bond, admitted as a Solicitor in 1986 (having previously been an Assistant Solicitor with Riley & Co and prior to that in house Solicitor at Burnley Borough Council where she was the first female Solicitor to be recruited at that level), joined the Firm as a partner.  Denise headed the Litigation Department dealing with civil and commercial litigation and employment law.  Whilst remaining on Warner Street, the firm took over the office next door.

By focusing on providing a personal, expert and efficient service to its clients as well as achieving and maintaining the highest levels of professional expertise and providing excellent care, Acklam Bond began to expand and quickly established itself as a  successful legal practice both within East Lancashire and the surrounding areas.

Over the years Acklam Bond has developed and maintained strong and stable business relationships with a number of clients and new work is often generated by way of word of mouth and recommendations by existing clients who recognise the level of expertise yet professional and client driven ethos that the Firm delivers.  The desire to provide exceptional high quality client care is exemplified by the fact that 90% of clients rate us as good, very good or excellent and would recommend our services.

As the firm expanded it began to offer new services such as residential conveyancing, Family, Landlord and Tenant, Personal Injury, Clinical Negligence, Court of Protection/Lasting Powers of Attorney and developed a niche specialism in public and administrative law acting for GPs and other medical professionals.

In 2008, Acklam Bond Solicitors moved from Warner Street to a larger brand new office at Equity Chambers, St James Street, Accrington and the offices are well positioned within the town centre, close to all transport links and other local businesses with the added bonus of free on site parking!

SUCCESSES OF DENISE

Having acted for thousands of clients over the years, what stands out for Denise is acting for a client who was catastrophically injured and Denise secured over a million pounds in compensation.  Knowing that she had secured monies which would help provide for the client was a career highlight.

Recently Denise was involved in a High Court case where she successfully brought a judicial review case against the CQC for her GP client.  The case has been widely reported as being a landmark case as a result of which, the CQC have changed how they deal with the review process following a CQC inspection.

Another highlight was successfully challenging the NHSLA (National Health Service Litigation Authority) to award interest when damages have been awarded by them in proceedings.
